As a recent commit to Bowdoin and captain of the Winchendon girls’ 19U hockey team, Ava has kicked off her final year at The Winchendon School with many exciting accomplishments. Her recent return from the Ritchie event in Florida, where she attended as a Ritchie scholar, highlights her achievements not only on the ice but also in the classroom. The balance between her responsibilities as a student-athlete and team captain is remarkably challenging, and Ava’s ability to keep up with these challenges shows her determination and resilience. Through hard work and commitment, Ava has earned her place as a Ritchie scholar, by not only showcasing her impressive abilities on the ice but through academics as well.
Trying to balance these responsibilities is no easy task, and when asked how she manages her passions, she said “the biggest key to managing hockey and school is staying organized. I do my absolute best to stay on top of my assignments and utilize conferences especially when we are missing school for tournaments.” The Winchendon School’s girls 19U hockey team has has many victories this year, and in being a captain of the team Ava has played a huge role in these victories.
Being as passionate about hockey as she is, Ava highlighted the stress and difficulty of the intense season. When asked how she feels about the high intensity, Ava said “my life becomes increasingly busy during hockey season, especially with this year’s new schedule for the girl’s hockey program.” Ava’s high school years have been a long and rewarding journey, resulting in her commitment to continue playing hockey at Bowdoin.
This big achievement reflects not only her athletic abilities but also her dedication to her education while off the ice. With such a big achievement finally fulfilled, Ava stated “I’m really excited and honored to be committed to Bowdoin College. My college process was definitely stressful and took longer than expected, but I’m so fortunate that it ended the way it did. I’m looking forward to officially becoming a polar bear and gaining so many great opportunities from Bowdoin.”
