Where Are They Now? Two recent graduates of the classes ’17 and ’18 participated in The 2019 Boston Bruins development camp (read more here). About the Program
Coaches:
Coaching for the boys varsity players is Coach Mike Busconi ’13 who returns to Winchendon to take charge of our top boys team for the ’23-24 season. After graduating from Winchendon, Coach Busconi went on to play at Westfield State and then for three years at Southern New Hampshire University. Coach Busconi has been extensively involved in the New England Hockey as first a player, but then a coach and recruiter. More recently he was part of the coaching team that took one of our peer schools to a championship, has been a member of the coaching staff of the Islanders Hockey Club, and founded and is President of Boston Hockey Club. We are thrilled to have Coach Mike Busconi ’13 returning to Winchendon to take the helm of our Boys Hockey Program.
Jeff Pellegrini arrived at The Winchendon School from Shattuck-St. Mary’s where he has been coaching since the fall of 2018. Previously, Pellegrini racked up 15 years of NCAA Division I and Division III collegiate coaching experience. His experience includes six years coaching women’s hockey at Northeastern University and guiding the Huskies to the program’s first-ever Hockey East Championship (2018). At Winchendon, Coach Pellegrini, both serves as Head Coach of the girls 16U team and oversees all ice hockey operations including recruiting and development of all players across The Winchendon School’s teams. He is also responsible for guiding the mentorship of our hockey coaches. On the girls side, Coach Pellegrini is assisted by Kara Santoro who serves as Head Coach of the Girls 19U program.

Since 2019 over 60 players have moved on from The Winchendon School to playing in college.

Coaches:
The Winchendon School baseball program is led by Head Coach John Toffey. In his first season as Head Coach at Winchendon the team had a 20-6 overall record and won its first-ever New England championship. Coach Toffey has seen over 75 of his former student-athletes complete in college at schools such as Bates, Clark, Colby College, Dayton, Gardner Webb, Georgetown, Hamilton College, Holy Cross, Maine, Merrimack, Northeastern University, Rollins College, Saint Anselm, St. Lawrence, Tufts, UMass-Amherst, UMass-Lowell, Wesleyan, Vanderbilt ( All American), Clemson, Richmond, Maine, Boston College ( All American), Northeastern, Dartmouth ( All IVY League), University of Pennsylvania ( Ivy League Player of the Year), Bentley ( MLB draft choice), Hartford, Michigan, Tufts, UCONN, Tulane, and many more. He has coached 7 MLB draft choices including two top 5 rounds selections- NY Yankees-3rd and Oakland Athletics-4th. The 2019 team featured a New York Yankee (MLB) draft choice and the 2021 team had 19 student/ athletes move on to play college baseball. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Toffey is the Dean of Enrollment Management at The Winchendon School.
Coach Toffey is assisted by John Brickley who has coaching experience at the high school, college, and professional level. Coach Brickley is a long-time MLB scout working for the Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds. He has also managed in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Our Head Athletic Trainer is Jon Harris– widely considered one of the top Athletic Trainers in New England.
Our Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is Bryan Muenzner.
