Freshman Shayne Burton boasted an impressive 17 points to launch the Wapiti to a victory at home against Landmark on January 8th. After a two week vacation, the Wapiti appeared to struggle with rebounding and perimeter shooting against a poised zone defense; however, forced turnovers by Burton and Freshman Summer Carpenter proved essential for the Wapiti. Carpenter contributed 10 points, 7 steals, and 3 assists. Junior Captain Anna Tassone (2 points) mastered the boards for the Wapiti, contributing 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. She created opportunities for the Wapiti to improve their transition play with this effort. Sophomore Kelsey Fredericksen scored her first varsity buckets of the season with two well executed layups. The Wapiti take on Springfield Commonwealth at home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
