A Favorite Place to Visit and the Books You Would Take There: My favorite place to visit would be the white sands of any turquoise beach that was filled with sea turtles, and I’d bring my personal book of a million thoughts.

Best Part About Being a Teacher: My students!

Christine has held a few positions that have really shaped her into the person and teacher she is today. She worked as a museum educator at The American Museum of Natural History and as an Introductory Biochemistry teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has also worked as a researcher at The Hull

Lab for Biochemical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There, she was awarded the Hilldale Research Fellowship for my genetic screen on the fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans. 

Christine is very passionate about conservation biology and environmental justice. She enjoys volunteering with the Bronx River Alliance in her free time to remove trash from the Bronx River and invasive species from our communities – an activity that her students might join her in. She also loves to sing, practice yoga, and play volleyball.

Tiffany has both American and Finnish citizenship and this is one of the reasons why she decided to obtain an additional degree in Intercultural Relations.  It has also shaped her engaging student-centered multicultural approach to teaching and learning.  Working with young adults is a privilege and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

If her family isn’t outdoors in the sun on a beautiful day, she honestly feels guilty!  She enjoys biking, swimming, reading, photography and traveling.  And, if she gets the opportunity, she loves binging European shows on Amazon or Netflix…British crime programs are her guilty pleasure!

A lifelong New Hampshirite, after graduating from The Winchendon School, Kayley made the trip south for college at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she studied political science. Since returning back north, she’s taught at South Meadow School in Peterborough, NH before returning to her alma mater for 2021-2022. 

“As a graduate of The Winchendon School,  I knew I wanted to come back to campus to impart the passion I have about education to support students to become confident in their skills as my former teachers did when I was a student here.”

In her free time, Kayley loves to read.

John Hassan has had a storied career as a writer, specifically with ESPN as a journalist and editor. John had the opportunity to attend Super Bowls, World Series games, NBA Finals games, US Open tennis matches, Ryder Cup matches, and many other events he never thought he’d get to experience in person. He has also done work with the V Foundation For Cancer Research (ESPN’s main charitable endeavor), and has collaborated on memoirs with Cheech Marin and Kenny Leon. 

John also wrote his college thesis on the lyrics of the Beatles after being touched by the death of John Lennon: “My advisor was game but told me I was taking a risk as a rock and roll band had never been the subject of an English thesis at Bates and he wasn’t a huge fan of their music. I got a B+ and was, of course, greatly disappointed. During our meeting to review the entire project, my professor sensed my underlying frustration and said ‘Before we go any further, Mr. Hassan, I must tell you that I do not give out grades of B+ like cocktail peanuts.’ It was the perfect comment at just the right time in my journey to adulthood”.

John also loves golf and hiking, and will have plenty to explore in the Winchendon area. Clearly a well rounded reader and engaged consumer of culture, he also enjoys reading, movies, and listening to music. Music is his main passion; his favorite thing to do is to go hear and see live music. In a perfect world, that’s all he would do – a perfect audience member for our music concerts each season here at Winch.
