Is it Mike Hardman ’17 playing for the Blackhawks? Maybe it’s one of our two “Sophies”, Sophie F. ’17 a Fulbright scholar doing research in the DR, or Sophie J. ’18, the Chief TikTok officer for Nerf. It would be easy to make the case for Bryan P.’17, who has hundreds of thousands of people using his LittleELF gift wrap cutter this holiday season, or Mike W. who DJs for throngs of party goers in China, or Max MacKenzie ’16 who is building his career as a professional actor. It could be any of the many Winchendon students and alumni doing really cool things.
But our CEO Mr. Kerney thinks the pick might be current four-year senior Lane ’22 who is in the midst of finals week on the NYC campus, and working evenings – at Rock Center! Mr. Kerney says, “I was walking by the ice rink admiring the big tree in its decoration process, and looked down at a tall guy skating circles around everyone else on the rink. I quickly recognized one of our own. Student by day, Rockefeller Center Ice Rink attendant by night. That’s how we like our Winch kids! “
Over his four years, Lane has done a glass blowing internship at Corning as a 9th grader, used a ColLAB to build a bike which he then rode to raise money for charity, but this is likely a gig that he will remember for the rest of his life – taking care of visitors from around the globe at the base of the world’s most famous🎄!
Leave us a comment below with your pick for a current student or young alum doing cool things these days. We would love to top this one.
