The Winchendon Wapitis clinched a victory over the visiting Montrose School Mavericks in an exciting 4 game home match on Wednesday 11/17. The Wapitis won 3 sets to 1.
1st game, 25-16 Win- The Wapitis had a decisive win in game one.
2nd game, 23-25 Loss- The Wapitis exchanged the lead often with the Mavericks. However, they lost in the end by two points by failing to communicate and play good defense.
3rd game, 25-13 Win- Wapitis bounced back for a decided victory in game 3.
4th game, 25-11 Win- Gaining momentum, the Wapitis sealed the victory in game 4.

Coach Harrington stated: “I’m happy about the win and the chance to move on, but we are looking for greater consistency as we head into the semifinals and hopefully finals this weekend. When we communicate and play good defense we are a very good team. I’m happy to be coaching this great group of girls, and we are ready to give it our all.”
Winchendon packed the house with a supportive crowd of family, friends, and faculty whose cheering helped energize the players. Coach and the team expressed their thanks.
The team will advance to NEPSAC Semifinal Playoffs to face top-seeded Portsmouth Abbey once again on Saturday, Nov 20th, Away at 1:00 PM. They hope to repeat last week’s win against PSA to move on to the Finals on Sunday. Go Wapitis!
