When I first came to Winch and moved in on the first day I wasn’t too optimistic about the year ahead. I had never lived outside of my home before, but it didn’t take long for Winch to feel like a home to me.
Compete Against the Best.
The Winchendon School attracts students from all over the world who want to compete at the highest level. We help them get there.
A college-level strength and conditioning program means that as a student-athlete, you’ll understand the effort and dedication of being a college athlete before you get to college.
But as much fun as it is going to the big weekend game, it’s as much fun to try out a new sport for the first time.
For instance, our approach to athletic conditioning mirrors our approach to academic support; small group drills on the ice, conditioning in the gym with our strength and conditioning coach, and fun.
Our program is designed to give you the opportunity to flex and get your blood pumping whether you’re on the ice for the first time or playing competitive badminton!

Hermon, Berkshire, New Hampton, Holderness, St. Sebastian’s, Albany Academy, Cushing Academy, St. George’s, Greenwich Academy, BB&N, Worcester Academy and Thayer among many others. The Winchendon School is a member of NEPSAC (The New England Preparatory School Athletic Council).
Athletic Philosophy
The Winchendon School’s athletic philosophy encourages participation by all students, whether in a competitive or intramural program. Winchendon School students are generally required to participate in at least one interscholastic sport during the course of each year in order to experience the intense personal investment of being a team player. Regardless of the level of competition, our coaches emphasize the core values of teamwork, commitment, sportsmanship, perseverance, and selflessness. In conclusion, these are habits that will serve you for the rest of your life – in college, in your career, and in every aspect of your adult lives.
