FROM QUIET GIRL TO DYNAMIC COMMUNITY LEADER

“
Ms. Jennings taught me how to be a leader amongst my peers. She showed me compassion and empathy. She pushed me to get the outcomes she knew I was capable of. She led by example. She was the most energetic and loving teacher on campus, willing to try new things but also to learn from her mistakes.
”
As a Service Learning leader starting her junior year, Alle planned, organized, and executed service projects in her community that involved dozens of students and local organizations. “I loved being able to take charge and organize while also giving back to my community. This program sets TWS apart from other schools.”
- When Alle arrived at Winchendon it was hard to at first see the extraordinary member of our community that she would quickly become. She loved sports, playing all three seasons – and she started trying all sorts of different things on campus.
- She thrived, grew intellectually, had fun and making sure that others did too, and discovered her passion for leadership in the community. Supporting others became an important passion for Alle.
- In her senior year, Alle got into her first choice school – Connecticut College – where she now holds similar leadership positions and teaches at a local pre-school each week. And, don’t forget she’s still an avid soccer and basketball player.
- Alle is currently studying Sociology and Human Development with a minor in African Studies. She is now involved in the “Genesis Program,” a mentor program for students of color and first generation college students. True to form, Alle is looking forward to a future of helping people. “I am also pursuing an education certificate in hopes of becoming an educator or social worker after college.”
