As the spring season winds down, teams are still finding their victories even at the end. The spring season sports here at Winchendon include baseball, golf, tennis, softball, and lacrosse. With all of those sports holding pretty decent records, golf overtakes them all. Holding a record of 13-1 as of 5/10/24. With one match to go in the season.
The boy’s lacrosse team has been battling back from a slow start at the beginning of the season. They have two regular season games left and are looking to find their way with wins in the Small School Tournament.
Girls lacrosse has been playing some very tough opponents. Also with two games left, they will celebrate their two seniors on 5/11/24 with a game against Hoosac at home.
Baseball has an impressive record of 16-8 this season with one regular season game remaining, and the Winchendon Invitational tournament to go, and in hopes for playoffs.
The softball team just had a big win (15-0) against Stoneleigh Burnham. They have also had big wins against Lawrence Academy (12-0), Northfield Mount Hermon (7-3), and New Hampton (17-6). Softball also has two games remaining, they play Tilton and Dexter Southfield to close out the season.
The girl’s tennis team has two matches left. Most of their matches had been canceled which is very unfortunate to the girls and the team. Nonetheless, they have had a great time together this season as a team. Their two matches remaining include Cushing JV and Dublin School. Good luck girls tennis!
There are many seniors in the spring season participating in their desired spring sports. We wish those who are going to play collegiate athletics the best of luck next year. And to those who are also going to college, the best of luck as well! Congratulations to our seniors!
