Rolling Admissions, Early Action, or Early Decision: It’s never too early to start thinking about the College Process. As some seniors already know where they’re headed and others are waiting to hear from schools, the College Counseling Office turned their attention to the juniors. Throughout the fall, colleges and universities held informational sessions on the Brooklyn Campus to get students thinking about where they might like to go.
The official Junior College Counseling Kickoff event followed another successful ColLAB period where students engaged internships, international service projects, and numerous student and faculty-driven projects.
It was all hands on deck as Director of College Counseling, Anthony Lambert and Counselors MaryLee Harrington and Keeley Chretien were in New York meeting with both juniors and their families at the start of the second semester. Juniors met with college counselors during the day to start the college process. Families arrived in the evening to learn more about the process, share stories, and ask questions.
“Starting to work with the juniors in the winter is essential because we approach the college process in steps. Completing the CommonApp, developing the CommonApp essay, taking standardized testing, and researching colleges require time, said Mr. Lambert, Director of College Counseling. “We meet with students throughout their junior winter and spring to focus on these aspects of the process. As a result, we alleviate some of the stress that accompanies the senior fall semester.”
