Recently at our NYC | Herald Square campus, students in Music Composition participated in a songwriting and performance workshop facilitated by Billy Seidman.
Billy is a Berklee College of Music graduate who worked in New York and Nashville as a professional songwriter and studio musician for both RCA Publishing and Sony Music, writing for Grammy-winning songwriters. Currently, Billy is the founder of the NYC music school, Song Arts Academy, and is on the songwriting faculty at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and NYU. Billy is also the author of “The Elements of Song Craft,” a contemporary songwriter’s textbook.
During the workshop itself, students received expert feedback on their ongoing compositions, learned about lyricism, song structure, and audience tracking, and wrote a collaborative song with lyrics and instrumentation.
This is Impact Learning.
