A Foot at a Time
The Making Winch Greener campaign focuses on our overall student experience by providing new and renewed spaces for all to use. Imagine students and faculty enjoying the new baseball and softball fields for the annual Wiffle Ball Campus Championship, while a lacrosse game is being played on the next field, or cheering families and students supporting the soccer team on the new turf fields during Family Weekend. The Making Winch Greener campaign ensures you don’t need to only imagine it, it means our students will live it.
The Plan
The Board authorized the senior team to proceed with upgrading two of our principal athletic fields to artificial turf. This will include completely redoing the baseball diamond to incorporate both baseball and softball diamonds as well as dugouts, batting cages, and a bullpen. In addition, the Boomhower field will be resurfaced to create a fully NCAA-compliant field for boys and girls soccer and lacrosse. Construction started in June and we expect to have everything completed before the snow flies. The total cost is expected to be in the $3-3.5 million range.

If each of us helps with as many (square) feet as we can, we can get these fields built and paid for with your participation.
There are approximately 200,000 square feet between the two fields. A 100′ x 100′ s.f. sponsorship will have a huge impact – and there are smaller opportunities too. All gifts will. be celebrated on a labeled plaque of the fields.
