Student Life
“Mr. Mansfield really cared about the quality of work in AP Calculus, and about his students demonstrating their capabilities and pushing them to the limit, both academically and athletically. In Mrs. Draugsvold’s class I learned how to question authority as well as sources, and how to think about the world from my own perspective. I still think daily about some conversations I had in her class. I wouldn’t care about Hemingway if not for her.”
Define Success Your Way.
A Winchendon School education is deeply personalized and highly collaborative, driven by student interests. For instance, our graduates are confident, adaptable, and self-directed learners. We’ll show you how to be a part of something bigger, whether it’s finding your purpose, or scoring in the big game. Moreover, picture yourself here with a team helping you reach your goals every step of the way.
Opportunities to explore what makes you curious allow you to discover possibilities outside your comfort range. Similarly, our teachers are coaches and our coaches are mentors. You’ll be inspired to grow academically and socially and to step into the challenges presented to you. In short, here, you’ll be respected for who you are in our warm and welcoming community.
From day one, you’ll be asked to shape your education and map out your course. Finally, you’ll have opportunities each year to pursue a graded, single focus immersive, Internship or Independent Project. Whether studying street art in New York City, working on an internship studying gravitational waves at Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), or designing web animation, you will be engaged in learning to give you a platform to tell a richer story about who you are and how you’ll impact the world.
