Community Matters
It’s Why Students Choose The Winchendon School
I knew as soon as I stepped on campus. There was a feeling of being home.- Senior
Walk across campus at The Winchendon School and you’ll be greeted with smiles. Step off the main path and you’ll find students working in small groups. In multi-aged dorms, service-learning, ColLABs, and advisee meetings, you’ll find students and faculty working together, with purpose. At morning Community Meetings, we begin the day by celebrating accomplishments.
Each week students are nominated by their friends, staff, and faculty to be recognized for demonstrating outstanding Character and Kindness. The student with the highest weekly effort grades and class average is also recognized as Student of the Week. Do you make important stuff happen? At The Winchendon School, we recognize members of our community dedicated to Making Important Stuff Happen with the MISH award.
Everyone supports one another. We go to each other’s games and stuff. We even encourage each other to try new things. I had never been in a musical before. My friends really supported my decision. – Sophomore
We Put An Emphasis on Community
Recent research tells us students learn better when they have deep connections with the people who surround them. At The Winchendon School students can be themselves, discover themselves, and challenge themselves all while building lasting connections in an authentic community.
