Our 10th grade students have begun an interdisciplinary project in their Speech, Debate, & The Essay and Chemistry classes focused around forensic chemistry and the criminal justice system. The students are currently reading the book ‘Alias Grace’ by Margaret Atwood in English and studying chromatography and chemical analysis in Chemistry. A 3-part murder mystery project, this first part included a murder mystery activity, the next will be a forensic investigation, culminating in a simulated mock trial. Aurelio F. ’23 says, “I enjoyed the murder mystery activity because it was open to interpretation and connected two of my favorite subjects.” Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3, and if you want to learn more about our program offerings, check out one of our upcoming Open Houses.
