On our campus in NYC, visiting artist Alexa Stark (@alexastark) recently joined us for the day, taking a break from her celebrated EVERYWHERE exhibition at Ace Hotel New York to work with students during their free periods throughout the day.
Students joined Ms. Stark’s Open Studio to explore three (3) different mediums: drawing, painting, and clay. Through still life and creative exercises, students worked on training their hand/eye coordination and learn the difference between looking and seeing.
Returning students will recognize Ms. Stark from our Fashion Forward ColLAB last year, which combined fashion and social activism. Ms. Stark is a Parsons The New School for Design in New York alumnus and her growing clothing line is couched in the “the idea that design should be effortless- instilled with contemplative simplicity and balanced intention.”
We are very lucky to have had Ms. Stark join us again!
