Over the past couple of weeks, the winter season has been winding down. Hockey season is also coming to an end with the last final stretch of games, and the home games have come to a close. The Girls 19U team had their senior day on February 11th, playing against the Hill School. The Boys Varsity team had their senior night on February 21st, playing against Phillips Exeter Academy. And to continue, the Boys Varsity B team celebrated their seniors on February 17th.
In a thrilling game that led to overtime after it being 2-2 at the end of regulation, unfortunately, the Hill School came up with the win over the 19U team. The Boys Varsity A team also had a thrilling game go into overtime at the end of regulation. It was 1-1 after 3 periods of well-played hockey, but after the five minutes of overtime, neither team scored. It resulted in a 1-1 tie between Winchendon and Phillips Exeter. Meanwhile, the Boys Varsity B team had a great win over the Hillside School on their senior day, 4-1. Senior goalie DJ Plante stood tall in the net over Hillside.
Before all of the games, a tribute to the seniors was held with announcements and photos of families. Many friends and family came out to support the seniors on their special day. Families from afar were very appreciative and excited to see their kids on their day of celebration. After the Varsity A game and the 19U game, a dinner was held in Trustees Hall for the boys and their families. To say the least, it was a blast. Laughs were had, food was eaten, and memories were made. After the Varsity B win, the boys got together to have pizza and a numerous amount of snacks after a great win over Hillside.
All three teams had great days of celebrating the class of 2024 on their respective teams. We wish them the best of luck with their college adventures in the fall of 2024. We cannot wait to see what is in store for them. Congratulations seniors!
