Winchendon welcomed Worcester Academy to The Jason Ritchie ’05 Arena for the first game of a back to back. The Wapiti wasted no time getting on the board, as Willem Dumais ‘24 opened the scoring with a backhand shot that found the top corner. Winchendon went on to score seven more unanswered goals, led by Jake Bernadet ‘22 who recorded a hat trick while also adding an assist to his stat line. The Wapiti’s balanced offensive attack produced four more goal scorers, as Ewan Powers ‘21, Benito Calvanese ‘22, Nolan McDonough ‘21, and Ian Worthley ‘21 all found the back of the net. McDonough and Worthley each added two assists, while Joe Bova ‘21, Sean Conlon ‘21, Sam Logan ‘22, Nolan Duffy ‘22, and Matthew Gallagher ‘21 contributed with one assist each. On the defensive end, Winchendon held Worcester scoreless thanks to great performances from goaltenders Jake Fillion ‘21 and Matthew Pierce ‘22, combining to record their first shut-out of the season. The Wapiti return to action tomorrow, February 13th, at The Worcester Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 6:10pm.
