Synchronized Skating, Sisters, and Silver is not just an exercise in alliteration. Misora O. ‘22 and Umika O. ‘23 just returned from the National Synchronized Skating Championships in Rhode Island where their team took a silver medal in the novice category.
The sisters have been figure skating for over 10 years but have focused primarily on synchronized skating for the last three years. With training in the mornings for figure skating and team synchronized skating on the weekends in Connecticut, Misora and Umika have mastered juggling school, travel, and skating. The nearly straight-A students are competing on the same team for the first time and so far have had a pretty successful run with a gold medal at regionals in Albany and the recent silver. They have a little break before tryouts at the end of the month.
At The Winchendon School, #thewinchway means our learning is interest-driven, both in and out of the classroom giving our students the flexibility to pursue interests such as gymnastics or synchronized skating!
