TWS Alumni Return to Cheer on the Cast and Crew of “Fiddler on the Roof”
A reflection of the real-world learning The Winchendon School (TWS) students receive in public speaking, presentation literacy, and the performing arts was onstage at the recent production of the Broadway classic, Fiddler on the Roof.
Peppered among the audience of current students, family, and Board of Trustee members, were alumni who made the journey back to Winchendon to encourage and support former schoolmates, some who were on stage for the first time.
“It takes courage,” says Head of School for the Winchendon campus, Laurie Lambert, “our students come to TWS as scholars or athletes and while here they may learn they are also artists, or actors, or singers. This shared experience by young people discovering who they are is a hallmark of a TWS education. Our alumni return for the fall musical year after year to show support for their younger friends.”
“…this production was absolutely terrific. The singing, acting, sets, were wonderful. We have incredibly talented students among us, and it was such a pleasure to see them be able to showcase their talents. The diversity of the cast was also impressive,…Both nights saw packed houses…Kudos to the entire cast and crew!! – Board of Trustees, President
Students are finding success in the performing arts beyond TWS. Recent TWS alumni can be found performing and studying art, music, and theater arts on the campuses of Middlebury College, Sarah Lawrence, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and others.
Real-world learning is a transformative experience and it happens every day, and sometimes on stage, at The Winchendon School.
