What is BetterED?
Our Winchendon Guarantee is to provide each of our students and their families a more personalized, student-centered, and engaging experience in every facet of their high school journeys.
We have consistently achieved this promise in the learning experience, and have been an innovator in providing our students with unsurpassed educational opportunities through groundbreaking programs including Global Dynamics, Winch U, Service Learning, ColLABs, an urban satellite campus, Impact Learning, and more.
BetterED takes a fresh approach to the often cumbersome interview, application, and acceptance process, eliminating what has been an onerous forms-and-essay-based process in favor of personal conversations and planning. The emphasis in the application stage is on dialogue and conversation – not forms and essays. The BetterED application and decision cycle reflects our commitment to individual engagement and personalization. It is more about considering the possibilities available for you in high school and setting goals than about documenting prior experiences. With BetterED, we want to look at the opportunities that lie ahead for you in your personalized high school and college journey.
The BetterED decision process is also streamlined, taking what has often been a process spanning many months and reducing it to two weeks, or perhaps even less. BetterED provides you with the info and decisions that you need about choosing your next school ~ when you want it, not when schools want to give it to you:
- Within seven days – if not sooner – after your BetterED conversation and dialogue, you will know if it feels as if you and Winchendon would be a good fit and if any additional information is needed to finalize that decision.
- Then, approximately seven days after receiving any additional requested information, we will let you know definitively if you and Winchendon are a good match.* No waiting and worrying for weeks or months while an antiquated process plays out. You and your family will know if you have a spot at Winchendon for the coming year.
Stop sweating essays or worrying about deadlines or test results. Focus instead on planning how to plan your own high school journey that will create unique opportunities and propel you to greater success.
And if you would prefer the more traditional application and essays, or are using the common application to apply to multiple schools, we still will happily accept that and are here to support you through that process.
