Congratulations to Girls Golf, Softball, Boys Lacrosse, and our Baseball teams for all making Spring post-season play!
Athletic Director Dan Chretien noted this is the first time in the School’s history so many teams are continuing on to the playoffs.
Golf
Abby S. ’24 led us off playing in the Pippy O’Connor Golf Classic and finishing in the top ten, only three strokes back.
Abby’s coach, Dr. Friedman said, “Abby earned and maintained the position as the top golfer on the team, the number one slot, and served as the team captain. Pairing distance with precision shots, Abby continued to improve her scores throughout the season. She earned the respect of her team, her coach, and her opponents. Around the school and around the course, students and other golfers she did not know (or did not know well) would come up to her and compliment her on her game.”
Softball
On Saturday, May 21st at 1:00 PM the Softball team will take to the field in their semi-final bid against Stoneleigh-Burnham School. Recently, Shayne Burton sat down with Keiser University commit Tes DeBono to check in with her about the team and how the season went.
Boys Lacrosse
Boys Lacrosse had a steady climb this season and by the end of the season, found themselves with a playoff berth. The team improved vastly week to week, and so much so, that by the last regular season game, the opponent coach commented on how incredibly far Winchendon had come as a team from last year to this year. Catch the boys on the field on Monday, May 23rd.
Baseball
Since John Toffey took on the mantle of Varsity Baseball Coach, The Winchendon School has seen over 50 players move on to play at the college level. Their first year out, the team picked up the Small School Championship in 2019, and for the first time then, the championship game will be played again. The team takes to the field on Monday, May 23rd at 4:00 PM at Franklin Pierce University to take on Marianapolis.
