Going deep into the postseason, The Winchendon School’s spring athletic teams have experienced unprecedented success. The postseason play began with Abby S. ’24 representing Golf by playing in the Pippy O’Connor Golf Classic and finishing in the top ten, only three strokes back. This week, the Softball team won the Western New England Champions with a 6-2 win!
A late rally pulled the team into the lead and there was no going back!
Boys Lacrosse and Baseball Advance
Coach James Harrington was playing for the Wapiti the last time the team saw post-season play. After a 19-2 win over St. Andrews of Rhode Island, the team moves on to play King School next in their pursuit of the McCoy Cup: Small School Championship.
After an 11-1 win over Marianapolis, Baseball moves on to the semi-final game on Wednesday, May 25th at 4:00 PM at Franklin Pierce University. Come out and watch the game – with over 50 players going on to play in college since 2019, it’s going to be an exciting game!
A New Turf Field is in the Works
Recently, the School announced a $4,000,000 turf field project. Assistant Head of School for Enrollment, Strategy, and Athletics, John Toffey, told New England Baseball Journal, that he sees the new turf fields as an opportunity for not only baseball but softball, soccer, and lacrosse as well.
