Becoming Top Prospects

The Winchendon School’s philosophy of supporting each student athlete to achieve his or her personal best helps our athletes achieve their goals of going on to play at top NCAA Division 1 programs. In recent years, our student athletes have been recruited and received significant scholarships to successfully compete at such programs as Boston University, Northeastern, Union, Yale, U Maine, Providence College, U Mass, Maryland, Penn and Stanford among many others. Their experience at Winchendon has ensured that they are prepared to compete both in the classroom and in competition.

Competing at the Highest Level

Our teams compete with and often win against some of the biggest names in prep school sports – Andover, Exeter, Northfield Mt. Hermon, Berkshire, New Hampton, Holderness, St. Sebastian’s, Albany Academy, Cushing, St. George’s, Greenwich Academy, BB&N, Worcester Academy and Thayer among many others. Winchendon is a member of NEPSAC (The New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) as well as specific leagues by sport.

Athletics, Learning and the Community

ColLABs and Service Learning also provide a place where passion for sports can intersect with rigorous skill development. In the last two years, there have been immersive ColLAB’s course focused on sports psychology, athletic training, and physiology as well as a number of exciting independent ColLAB projects designed around individual athletic passions. As importantly, a number of our student-athletes have made impactful connections with our community through creating Service Learning projects using sports as an opportunity for engagement and mentoring of local school children.
